Department Overview

The South Bay Delivery team is an innovative organization focused on achieving transformative outcomes in service delivery. This role demands leadership in integrating various internal and external components to meet ambitious net-zero objectives. The Principal Strategic Analyst will oversee internal collaboration, performance oversight, optimization, and strategic portfolio planning. This position is inherently cross-functional, necessitating teamwork across PG&E and external entities to realize the ambitious goal of net-zero emissions by 2030, serving as a benchmark for PG&E's long-term decarbonization strategy.

The Net Zero San Jose team will manage the identification, evaluation, prioritization, and mitigation of emissions linked to PG&E's operations and offerings, which include electrification of buildings and transportation, carbon reduction process optimization, and customer engagement across residential, small business, commercial, and industrial sectors.

Position Summary

PG&E is committed to achieving the climate vision set for the city of San Jose by 2030. The Principal Strategic Analyst will be pivotal in delivering and quantifying the benefits derived from leading cross-departmental initiatives with designated teams, partners, and industry stakeholders. The outcomes of these initiatives are ambitious and have the potential to create significant solutions on a broader scale. Responsibilities will encompass collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to define strategies, tactics, and participation barriers in decarbonization, while driving scale and impact through partnerships, guidance, and resource support for Accelerator-funded research teams.

All employees are expected to perform their duties in alignment with PG&E's vision and values.

This position operates in a hybrid model, working from a remote office and designated locations based on business requirements.

Compensation Information

PG&E provides a salary range that reflects the company's good faith belief regarding potential compensation for this role at the time of posting. This range is specific to the job's locality. Actual salary will depend on various factors, including skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. While we estimate that the successful candidate will be positioned between the entry point and the midpoint of the range, decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.

This role is also eligible for PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Salary Range:

Bay Area Minimum: $136,000.00

Bay Area Maximum: $232,000.00

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Sociology, Engineering, Physics, or related fields, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8 years of relevant job experience.

Desired:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Energy Systems, Energy Policy, or another advanced degree.
  • Experience and/or knowledge in areas such as energy policy, electric utility operations and planning, energy market design, utility ratemaking, cost recovery, energy efficiency, demand response, and renewable generation.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in articulating complex arguments clearly.
  • Experience in organizing and executing complex projects.
  • Demonstrated capability to devise creative solutions to intricate problems.
