Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Production Management: Manage the production facilities, assets, and personnel to ensure that all operational activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Supervision: Assist production departments and assume direct supervision of one or more departments as needed.
  • Budgeting: Develop and manage annual expense and capital budgets to control expenses incurred by operations in accordance with the operations budget expectations.
  • Process Development: Develop process descriptions and subsequent training requirements to ensure that all employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
  • Scheduling: Assist in setting priorities and production schedules based on safety issues, customer needs, equipment failures, and other operational challenges.
  • Efficiency Improvements: Aggressively pursue efficiency improvements to reduce costs and improve productivity.
  • Inventory Management: Manage operational activities to meet inventory and customer demand requirements.
  • Quality and Safety: Develop and implement operating procedures that improve safety, improve product quality, and/or eliminate operational challenges.
  • Employee Development: Develop and maintain a positive work environment by actively driving employee initiatives aimed at enhancing engagement and satisfaction.
  • Training and Development: Develop redundancy through cross-training within production departments and manage personnel to assign manpower to the greatest need.
  • Capital Projects: Assist/lead in driving capital projects from inception to completion.
Quality and Safety
  • Incident Reporting: Immediately report all conditions that either could have or result in safety, quality, and environmental incidents.
  • Process Improvements: Identify and recommend changes or improvements that enhance quality, health, safety, and the efficiency of processes.
  • Facility and Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and verify the satisfactory performance of facilities, equipment, and processes.
  • Quality and Customer Service Meetings: Participate in quality/customer service meetings, assist in project development, and drive assigned projects to completion.
  • Investigations: Lead/participate in investigations and ensure assignments for production and the lab investigations are completed in a timely manner.
  • Safety Meetings and Inspections: Participate in monthly safety meetings and inspections.
  • Safety KPI Program: Drive plant-wide participation in and value-creation through the safety KPI program.
  • Housekeeping: Emphasize housekeeping to improve safety.
  • Waste and Nonconforming Material: Monitor and coordinate disposition of waste and nonconforming material.
  • Production and Safety Standards: Manage and enforce production and safety standards.
Other Functions
  • Invoice Review: Review and approve plant invoices.
  • Customer and Regulatory Audits: Participate in customer and regulatory audits.
  • Customer Plant Visits: Lead/participate in customer plant visits.
  • Training: Lead/assist operations manager with plant-wide meetings, train operations personnel, and ensure maintenance of training records.
Leadership
  • Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a high-performing operations team that supports Brenntag's Core Values and the Brenntag Way execution for business conduct and compliance.
  • Leadership by Example: Lead by example/be a 'servant leader'.
  • Direct Report Development: Coach, guide, and develop direct reports. Hold all reports accountable for performance and safety.
  • Mentorship: Mentor direct reports.
  • Performance Reviews: Execute performance reviews.
  • Career Development: Discuss and support pursuit of career progression.
  • Disciplinary Actions: Advise operations manager on administration of discipline and issue disciplinary warnings when necessary.
