This position is subject to 24-hour call 7 days a week and is also required to work during major traffic incidents, system failures, and/or other emergencies.

Job Summary:

The ITS Systems Technician will perform skilled technical work in the installation, configuration, maintenance, service, operation, and construction of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and ITS-related systems. This position works alongside the traffic signal systems technical staff in support of the Brevard County Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) program.

Responsibilities:
  1. Install, configure, and maintain ITS equipment and systems.
  2. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on ITS equipment and systems.
  3. Provide technical support and assistance to other departments and agencies as needed.
  4. Collaborate with traffic signal systems technical staff to ensure seamless operation of ITS systems.
  5. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  1. Two (2) years of college credit [60 semester or 90 quarter hours] with major coursework in Electronic Technology, Computer Science, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), or a closely related field.
  2. Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in electronics, electrical engineering, transportation, or a closely related field.
  3. Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment.
  4. Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment.
  5. Must possess a current International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level II Traffic Signal Technician certification, and maintain said certification during the term of employment.
  6. Must possess, or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment, an IMSA Fiber Optic Technician certification or equivalent industry-recognized certification, and maintain said certification during the term of employment.
  7. Must possess, or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment, a Network Plus certification or equivalent industry-recognized certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment.
  8. Must be able to operate a bucket truck and associated equipment used in ITS equipment maintenance.
