Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Salary: $27.70 to $30.47 hourly, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Location: South Area, Melbourne, Travels Countywide.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled ITS Systems Technician to join our team in the Public Works Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, service, operation, and construction of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and ITS-related systems.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform skilled technical work in the installation, configuration, maintenance, service, operation, and construction of ITS and ITS-related systems.
  2. Work alongside traffic signal systems technical staff in support of the Brevard County Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) program.
  3. Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of ITS systems.
  4. Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure optimal system performance.
  5. Perform troubleshooting and repair of ITS equipment and systems.
  6. Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
  7. Provide technical assistance and training to other staff members as needed.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Two (2) years of college credit with major coursework in Electronic Technology, Computer Science, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), or a closely related field.
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in electronics, electrical engineering, transportation, or a closely related field.
  • A valid Florida Driver's license and a valid Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification.
  • An International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level II Traffic Signal Technician certification.
  • An IMSA Fiber Optic Technician certification or equivalent industry-recognized certification.
  • A Network Plus certification or equivalent industry-recognized certification.
Working Conditions:

This position requires:

  • Working at heights above/below ground level.
  • Working in cold, damp, or hot conditions.
  • Working with electricity, chemicals, or solvents.
  • Working in or with moving objects or vehicles.
  • Working in or with noisy conditions.
  • Working on or with ladders or scaffolding.
  • Working in or with dusty conditions.

Please note that this is a 24-hour call position, and you will be required to work during major traffic incidents, system failures, and/or other emergencies.
