Job Overview

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Vice President, the Financial Operations Coordinator plays a crucial role in various end-of-month processes and supports financial analysis, accruals, and reconciliations. This role encompasses responsibilities related to invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, monthly journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations, while collaborating with the finance team during the monthly closing cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the examination of accounts payable invoices to ensure appropriate approvals, accurate coding, and the identification of invoices subject to use tax.
  • Manage capital expenditure project documentation, including tracking and reporting.
  • Ensure accuracy in Purchase and Sales Order documentation against expenditures, including tracking and reporting.
  • Transform completed Sales Orders into invoices and dispatch them to clients.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of various balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries related to prepayments, accruals, depreciation, amortization, and freight, maintaining necessary supporting documentation.
  • Review outstanding purchase orders with department leaders and prepare accruals for expenses for review by the Controller.
  • Ensure compliance of accounting transactions with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and corporate policies.
  • Compile sales and use tax schedules, reports, and other documentation for timely filing.
  • Prepare documentation for year-end audits and tax returns, addressing audit-related inquiries as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to the principles outlined in the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHS&S) mission statement.
  • Comply with Chem Group MPR Services' quality policy and Employee Handbook.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience is required; 5 years is preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting is desirable, particularly with packaged or manufactured equipment.
  • Strong technical accounting and analytical capabilities are essential.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics, Great Plains, Sales Pad, and Trend Docs is a plus.
  • Demonstrates high integrity, a positive attitude, and an appreciation for a collaborative work environment.
