As a Patient Access Representative II at Memorial Hermann Health System, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to schedule patient appointments, verify medical necessity, and process payments in a timely and accurate manner.
Key Responsibilities- Scheduling and Coordination
- Schedule patient appointments and enter required information into our computer system with a high degree of accuracy.
- Obtain demographic, insurance, and financial information from patients or guarantors and enter it into the system.
- Medical Necessity and Compliance
- Ensure medical necessity compliance by obtaining necessary data, reviewing our Compliance System, and communicating information to patients or guarantors.
- Financial Integrity and Customer Service
- Protect the financial integrity of our facility by collecting patient liability, establishing payment arrangements, and discussing payment options.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits and ensure all notifications and authorizations are completed within the required timeframes.
- Post payments in the computer system and generate patient receipts.
- Communication and Documentation
- Communicate effectively and professionally with physicians, ancillary departments, nursing units, physicians' office staff, insurance companies, patients, and their families.
- Complete thorough and accurate documentation.
- Quality and Safety
- Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards.
- Education
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience
- Two (2) years of experience in a hospital or customer service setting.
- Skills
- Ability to multi-task.
- Proficient typing/keyboarding skills.
