Duke University Health System is seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist to join our team. As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures involved in the procurement, processing, and evaluation of patient specimens for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and specialized procedures, including specimen collection, processing, and analysis.
- Prepare and initiate special tests and procedures, including cytogenetics, general laboratory, Point-of-Care Testing, urinalysis, and phlebotomy.
- Communicate effectively with patients, family, and medical personnel to ensure accurate and timely results.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and perform quality control, safety, and infection control procedures.
- Participate in the distribution of specimens, supplies, and reports to the appropriate laboratory staff.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a structured phlebotomy training course and clinical rotation recommended.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Clinical Tech I or certification as a Phlebotomist required.
- Certification as a Phlebotomist by a nationally recognized board/agency may be required.
- Pediatric Phlebotomy experience.
- Certification in Basic Life Support.
