JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Environmental Services Technician reports directly to the Environmental Services Manager. This role is responsible for executing high-level, time-sensitive disinfection cleaning tasks to uphold critical patient areas. The position assists in all functions of the Environmental Services (EVS) department, with primary responsibilities including floor care maintenance, inventory management, and providing a clean, sanitary, disinfected, and safe environment to mitigate the spread of disease and illness. This position requires self-motivation, creativity, and the ability to operate in a semi-autonomous capacity within a fast-paced and dynamic setting.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
  1. Perform light repairs and routine maintenance on EVS powered cleaning equipment, including lubricating automatic scrubbers, changing pads, and checking batteries.
  2. Conduct and document equipment and chemical safety inspections.
  3. Operate all equipment with care, adhering to facility and manufacturer safety standards.
  4. Report any malfunction of powered equipment to the manager to prevent injury or further damage.
  5. Maintain inventory control of supplies and report items needing purchase to the manager.
  6. Complete special environmental services-related projects and other specialty tasks as assigned.
  7. Execute basic floor care using dry or wet mops, floor scrubbers, and vacuums.
  8. Stay informed about cleaning chemicals and their appropriate use and dilution methods.
  9. Utilize chemicals safely, ensuring correct filling of labeled containers as trained.
  10. Conduct environmental services pre-surveys regarding potential health and environmental hazards.
  11. Monitor vendor activities on job sites to ensure compliance with relevant contract agreements.
  12. Act as the departmental Safety Champion, communicating and implementing safety measures.
  13. Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives.
  14. Provide computer assistance and support to EVS Techs related to various platforms.
  15. Assist with the duties of the Environmental Services Technician I, EVS Tech II, and Floor Techs as needed.
  16. Support the setup for special events and other assignments as required.
  17. Safely collect and transport medical waste throughout the facility.
  18. Ensure compliance with biohazardous waste handling procedures.
  19. Report the need for repairs to equipment and facilities through the appropriate channels.
  20. Attend internal meetings and participate in mandatory policy reviews.
  21. Prepare and maintain necessary reports and records.
  22. Wear proper protective equipment and follow guidelines.
  23. Promote teamwork and communicate effectively with the Manager.
  24. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

Minimum Level of Education: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Formal Training: Basic computer skills, including the ability to utilize email and complete computer-based training courses with minimal assistance.

Licensure, Certification, Registration: DOT certification for Hazardous Waste required within 90 days of hire.

Work Experience: Three years' related work experience with various cleaning equipment, preferably in a healthcare or related industry setting.
