Job Title: Counter Sales Associate

Job Summary:

The Counter Sales Associate is a key role at Baker Distributing Company, responsible for providing exceptional customer service and driving sales at our wholesale HVAC distributorships. This position requires strong communication skills, technical knowledge, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent Baker Distributing Company as a leader in the industry, ensuring maximum sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders, including sales teams, vendors, and contractors.
  • Responsible for showroom merchandising, re-stocking products, and maintaining a clean and organized sales area.
  • Assist in resolving customer relations problems and provide excellent customer service.
  • Complete sales order processes, up-sell associated items, and provide product and service recommendations.
  • Service walk-in and telephone customers, assist with sourcing and shipping parts, and maintain inventory control.
  • Provide product and service information to customers, utilizing computer systems, catalogs, and other reference sources.
  • Arrange stock on shelves or racks in the sales area and maintain a visually appealing display.
  • Apply suggestive selling techniques and up-sell to current and prospective customers.
  • Conduct outgoing customer sales or service calls and resolve customer complaints.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Excellent communication skills, technical knowledge, and customer service skills.
  • Minimum 1+ year experience in a Counter Sales role, preferably in the HVAC industry.
  • Knowledge of air conditioning, heating, and ventilation equipment at a wholesale distribution level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including sales, problem-solving, and customer service focus.
  • Ability to work independently and meet assigned goals and objectives in designated time frames.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with skills to multi-task on different levels.
  • Excellent customer service mindset with the ability to develop long-term relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must possess and maintain a current, valid Driver's License.
  • Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and understanding English to ensure full compliance with safety standards, training, policies, and procedures.

  • The employee may use equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Must be able to utilize heavy machinery.
