Job Title: Counter Sales Associate

Job Summary:

The Counter Sales Associate is a key role at Baker Distributing Company, responsible for providing exceptional customer service and driving sales at our wholesale HVAC distributorships. This position requires strong communication skills, technical knowledge of HVAC products, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent Baker Distributing Company as a leader in the industry, ensuring maximum sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders, including sales teams, vendors, and contractors.
  • Responsible for showroom merchandising, re-stocking product, and maintaining a clean and organized sales area.
  • Assist in resolving customer relations problems and provide excellent customer service.
  • Complete sales orders, up-sell associated items, and provide product and service recommendations to customers.
  • Service walk-in and telephone customers, assist with sourcing and shipping parts, and maintain inventory control and warranty administration.
  • Provide product and service information to customers via computer system, catalog, telephone, or other reference sources.
  • Arrange stock on shelves or racks in sales area and maintain merchandise in order.
  • Apply suggestive selling techniques and up-sell to current and prospective customers.
  • Conduct outgoing customer sales or service calls and resolve customer complaints.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong background in technical support, HVAC parts, and customer service/sales.
  • Intermediate MS Office capabilities.
  • Minimum 1+ year experience in a Counter Sales role, preferably in the HVAC industry.
  • Knowledge of air conditioning, heating, and ventilation equipment at a wholesale distribution level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including sales, problem-solving, and customer service focus.
  • Ability to work independently and meet assigned goals and objectives in designated time frames.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with skills to multi-task on different levels.
  • Excellent customer service mindset with the ability to develop long-term relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must possess and maintain a current, valid Driver's License.
  • Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and understanding English to ensure full compliance with safety standards, training, policies, and procedures.

  • The employee may use equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Must be able to utilize heavy machinery.
