KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain high academic expectations, establish objectives, and strive to meet them.
  • Adapt curriculum, instructional methods, and personalized learning strategies to cater to diverse student needs.
  • Build and nurture positive relationships with students.
  • Engage with families to create a supportive environment for student growth.
  • Manage classroom behavior respectfully, adhering to established guidelines and codes of conduct.
  • Collaborate with educational leaders to create and implement a Professional Growth Plan for personal development.
  • Communicate effectively with administration, colleagues, students, parents, and the broader academic community to enhance educational outcomes.
  • Exhibit professionalism, leadership, and accountability in all aspects of work, including attendance, appearance, and student success.
  • Demonstrate collegiality and contribute positively to the school community.
  • Embrace the belief in our collective ability to shape a promising future.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (mandatory)
  • Proven ability to demonstrate student progress and articulate the strategies employed to achieve those results.
  • Possession of a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or equivalent (mandatory).
  • Possession of a valid Illinois grade-inclusive science endorsement or equivalent (mandatory).
  • ESL/Bilingual endorsement is preferred.
  • Residency in Chicago is not a requirement.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States (mandatory).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This role necessitates the ability to operate standard office equipment, compile and prepare documents, and maintain organized work files. Physical demands include standing, bending, reaching, and walking around the classroom for a significant portion of the day. Candidates should be able to lift and/or push 15 to 20 lbs. for brief periods and navigate stairs multiple times throughout the day.

The majority of work will be conducted in a typical school setting. This position may require extended hours and participation in organization-sponsored events and meetings.
