Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Surgical Care Coordinator to join our team at Christus Health.

About the Role

The Surgical Care Coordinator will play a vital role in assisting and facilitating efficient patient flow and safe patient care in the unit.

Main Responsibilities

  • Transport patients and equipment using appropriate standard precautions.
  • Clean and make ready beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs for patient transfer.
  • Presents self to other staff, patients, families, and visitors in a warm, receptive manner. Provides direction and information to patients and family members.
  • Assists with surgical patient positioning, transfer, cast application, and removal under the direction of the RN.
  • Retrieves and delivers items to other departments. Responds promptly to assignments and requests.
  • Assists nursing staff in maintaining high standards of nursing practice by facilitating a prompt response to patient needs.
  • Restocks supplies, cleans/defrosts refrigerators, cleans equipment, and maintains an orderly environment.
  • Ensures patient transfer and transport equipment is functioning properly.
  • Functions as a surgical team member.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • BLS required.

Work Schedule and Benefits

This is a PRN position, working on an as-needed basis. We offer competitive compensation, including an estimated salary of $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
