Your Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership in technical, business development, financial, and administrative functions to maintain and grow a thriving environmental consulting practice.
  • Oversee a range of professional consulting projects across specialized areas related to environmental and facility initiatives, including civil/geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, permitting, and remediation.
  • Collaborate with various teams across the Western U.S. and the organization.
  • Formulate strategic plans and financial budgets for the department.
  • Drive business development initiatives for the team.
  • Manage financial performance with regular reporting on business metrics.
  • Engage effectively with clients, staff, and WSP leadership.
  • Foster the development of current staff and identify new talent for future expansion.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality services and products.
  • Provide senior-level review and guidance on technical projects.
  • Act as project manager or subject matter expert on specific assignments.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in biology within a corporate setting, specifically in technical and managerial roles at an environmental consulting firm, with exposure to key local market sectors such as municipal, utilities, and energy.
  • A proven track record of expanding client programs by leveraging multi-disciplinary resources.
  • In-depth knowledge of biological consulting principles, practices, and techniques, including California's flora, fauna, habitats, special-status species, and relevant environmental regulations.
  • Experience in leading diverse project teams effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A commitment to fostering a strong safety culture.
  • Experience in advocating and negotiating with regulatory bodies and third parties on behalf of clients.
  • Ability to pass a drug test, physical examination, background check, and maintain a satisfactory driving record in line with company policies.
