Position OverviewRole Summary:

The MRI Imaging Specialist operates autonomously, executing intricate and specialized imaging procedures. This professional is proficient in utilizing a diverse range of imaging technology and computer systems. The role involves conducting preliminary MRI assessments for patients and staff, overseeing equipment maintenance and repairs, engaging in quality assurance activities, and addressing MRI safety concerns. The specialist must possess the expertise to make swift and highly technical decisions to accommodate various physical limitations and medical conditions. Continuous involvement in MRI education, safety protocols, quality assurance, and technological advancements is essential alongside clinical imaging duties. Effective communication and behavioral skills must align with the core values and mission of CHRISTUS Health.

Key Responsibilities:


• Adheres to the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.

• Conducts a range of diagnostic imaging procedures, including more complex tasks, using advanced computerized MRI imaging technology.

• Exhibits proficiency in MRI examinations, procedures, and the operation of pressurized injection systems.

• Assists Radiologists in performing invasive and biopsy procedures utilizing MRI technology to accurately identify anatomical sites.

• After completing imaging procedures, the specialist ensures the computer is programmed to finalize the examination and that all imaging data is accurately stored for future reference.

• Organizes and prioritizes imaging tasks throughout the workday to uphold a high standard of patient care and service continuity.

• Verifies that all billing codes are accurately entered into the financial system.

• Demonstrates and maintains competency across all age demographics to ensure proper execution of imaging studies.

• Adapts patient assessments, treatments, and care methods to meet the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of each individual.

• Ensures compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and standards set forth by regulatory bodies and the organization.

• Conducts all responsibilities in a manner that safeguards patient confidentiality and refrains from disclosing any sensitive information unless necessary for job functions.

• Basic computer proficiency is required.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

• Excellent customer service abilities are mandatory.

• Upholds the core values of CHRISTUS Health.

• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an AMA accredited School of Radiological Sciences or an equivalent program is required.
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in a hospital or clinical environment.
  • Highly preferred: 3 years of experience in a clinical imaging setting.
  • Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) from ARRT or ARMRIT is preferred.
  • Current state licensure is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
