The incumbent is responsible for conducting fundamental MRI screenings for patients and staff, performing maintenance and repairs, engaging in quality assurance activities, and addressing MRI safety concerns. The specialist must possess the expertise to make swift and highly technical decisions to accommodate various physical limitations and medical conditions. Continuous involvement in MRI education, safety protocols, quality assurance, and technological advancements is essential alongside clinical imaging duties. Effective communication and behavior must align with the core mission, values, and culture of the organization.
CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – San Marcos has a rich history, having opened its doors in 1923 and relocating to its current site in 1983. With a dedicated team of over 700 associates collaborating with more than 300 active and consulting physicians, we are committed to delivering exceptional services to our patients and their families. Our hospital has consistently been recognized as the leading healthcare facility in Hays County, receiving accolades for over two decades. We offer a wide array of specialized care services, including interventional cardiac care, medical imaging, rehabilitation, hospice, and women's health services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Uphold the standards of the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Conduct a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures, including complex cases, using advanced computerized MRI diagnostic equipment.
• Exhibit proficiency in MRI examinations, procedures, and the operation of pressurized injection devices.
• Assist Radiologists in performing invasive and biopsy procedures utilizing MRI technology to accurately locate anatomical sites.
• After completing procedures, ensure the computer is programmed to finalize the examination and that all scan data is accurately archived in the PACS system for future reference.
• Organize and prioritize daily procedures to maintain a high standard of patient care and continuity.
• Accurately code and enter all charges into the billing system.
• Maintain competency across all age groups to ensure the proper execution of studies.
• Adapt patient assessments, treatments, and care methods to meet the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of each patient.
• Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards set forth by state and federal agencies, the hospital, and other regulatory bodies.
• Perform all duties while safeguarding patient confidentiality and refraining from disclosing any confidential information unless necessary for job performance.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Strong customer service abilities are required.
• Adhere to the core values of Christus Health.
• Execute additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program or an equivalent recognized qualification is required.
- ARRT, RT (R), or other relevant certifications as per scope of practice. Must be Registered or Registry-eligible in a secondary modality and fulfill registration requirements within two years of starting the secondary modality.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a clinical or hospital environment is preferred.
- Three (3) years of experience in a clinical imaging setting is highly preferred.
- Registered with the (ARRT) American Registry of Radiologic Technology.
- Current state licensure is required.
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association) is required.
