Job Title: Payroll Analyst
Salary Range: $60,000-70,000
Employment Type: Contract to Hire
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and manage the preparatory tasks for each payroll cycle, including data entry for employee records, reviewing and resolving inquiries submitted to the payroll team, and maintaining logs and checklists for accuracy.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of the complete payroll process, encompassing onboarding, time tracking, payment execution, terminations, reporting, and financial accounting.
- Utilize various tools and checklists to ensure precision and consistency in payroll operations, including follow-ups on outstanding items.
- Verify all checklists to confirm that appropriate approvals are obtained.
- Accurately handle employee record updates, including validation for new hires, terminations, voluntary deductions, wage garnishments, direct deposits, and tax modifications.
- Maintain organized records for easy access and retrieval.
- Identify potential issues proactively and suggest effective solutions.
- Execute payroll entries in compliance with established protocols and best practices, ensuring adherence to regulatory and compliance standards.
- Investigate and respond to employee inquiries regarding personal payroll information and fulfill requests from agencies for income and employment verification.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders, setting realistic expectations and ensuring commitments are met, following through to resolve any issues or inquiries.
- Oversee payroll check sorting, reconciliation of counts, distribution, and packaging in line with SOX compliance procedures.
- Engage in special projects as directed by the payroll supervisor or director.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook.
- Strong capability and comfort in utilizing Excel for data management and tracking.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft suitable communications for employees and agencies.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Capacity to meet or exceed productivity benchmarks while ensuring accuracy and timeliness in work delivery.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree with three to five years of experience in Payroll, Finance, or Accounting, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Familiarity with database management software.
