Position Overview

The Inventory Control Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the daily operations of the institution's inventory management, including the canteen. Responsibilities encompass the shipping, receiving, and storage of goods, along with the collection of materials and supplies as needed. This role requires maintaining a secure environment in line with institutional policies and procedures, as well as directing and training inmate workers. The position involves a range of duties within a unique operational setting, akin to managing a large-scale department or grocery store.

Compensation Details

This role falls within pay schedule/range 3-10, with a starting hourly wage of $18.12, complemented by excellent benefits. Salary for current state employees may differ based on applicable pay transaction provisions. A twelve-month probationary period is mandatory.

Job Requirements

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application. The Department of Corrections may require pre-employment drug screenings, and candidates must successfully pass this screening as a condition of employment. Additionally, criminal background checks will be conducted prior to selection, and all new employees will undergo fingerprinting.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess education, experience, and/or training in the following areas:

  • Coordination of the shipping, receiving, and storage of all goods within the institution's warehouse and products available for sale in the canteen.
  • Proficiency in maintaining inventory through appropriate software tracking and purchasing systems.
  • Supervision, training, and oversight of inmate workers assigned to the warehouse, including task assignment, conflict resolution, and access control to tools and supplies.
  • Management of security protocols within the warehouse in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Conducting regular inspections of the premises, including multiple daily rounds of the warehouse.

Special Requirements

Candidates must be capable of performing heavy lifting and possess a valid driver's license. They should also be able to operate a flatbed or box truck, including maneuvering in and out of loading docks. This position involves routine lifting of heavy objects, up to 75 lbs. Some roles may require fleet eligibility, necessitating a valid driver's license and the ability to maintain it throughout employment.
