Job Summary:The Behavioral Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing Positive Behavior Support Plans that apply behavior analysis and systems change perspectives to address challenging behaviors.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement Positive Behavior Support Plans for the Apartment Program and other residential programs as needed.
- Train staff on how to complete data sheets and follow behavior plans.
- Meet with staff regularly to review completed data sheets and behavior plan implementation.
- Provide training to staff on how to implement behavior plans.
- Review behavior plans quarterly to determine effectiveness.
- Meet with supervisor regularly to review, edit and modify plans as needed.
- Assist with coverage when necessary.
- Conduct positive reinforcement meetings weekly.
- Communicate the outcome of all positive reinforcement meetings in supervision.
- Complete contact logs regularly when visiting clients.
- Work with clients as needed.
- Consult with other professionals, such as psychiatrists and therapists.
- Provide input into the development and implementation of Agency policies and procedures regarding positive behavior supports.
- Master's Degree in Psychology or related discipline plus one year's experience in providing behavioral interventions or Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related discipline plus three years' experience in providing behavioral interventions.
- Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) theory and practices.
- Detail-oriented and able to work independently.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and external contacts.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Proficient with basic office equipment, such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, printers, and PCs.
Transitional Services for New York, Inc. offers a competitive salary of $67,408 annually, with a starting hourly rate of $37.03. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
