Behavioral Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Specialist to join our team at Transitional Services for New York, Inc. in Queens Village, NY.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's Degree in Psychology or a related field and at least one year of experience in providing behavioral interventions. Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or a related field with three years of experience in providing behavioral interventions will also be considered.
The Behavioral Specialist will be responsible for developing Positive Behavior Support Plans that apply behavior analysis and systems change perspectives within the context of behaviors such as self-injury, aggression, property destruction, defiance, and disruption.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing Positive Behavior Support Plans for the Apartment Program and other residential programs as needed
- Training staff on how to complete data sheets and follow behavior plans
- Meeting with staff regularly to review completed data sheets and behavior plan implementation
- Providing training to staff on how to implement behavior plans
- Reviewing behavior plans quarterly to determine effectiveness
- Meeting with supervisor regularly to review, edit, and modify plans as needed
- Assisting with coverage when necessary
- Conducting positive reinforcement meetings weekly
- Communicating the outcome of all positive reinforcement meetings in supervision
- Completing contact logs regularly when visiting clients
- Working with clients as needed
- Consulting with other professionals, such as psychiatrists and therapists
- Providing input into the development and implementation of Agency policies and procedures regarding positive behavior supports
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) theory and practices, be detail-oriented, and able to work independently and take initiative. They will also have effective oral and written communication skills, the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
We offer a competitive salary of $67,408 annually, with a starting rate of $37.03 per hour. A driver's license is required, and the ability to sit or stand as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation, is essential.
