Job Overview

Under general supervision, the incumbent will ensure the precision and timely delivery of financial reporting processes. This role encompasses managing journals, monitoring, calculating, analyzing, and reconciling fund balances, revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities in adherence to compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accounting Practices: Apply accounting principles and procedures to perform reconciliation activities for related general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts, ensuring compliance with institutional, federal, and state accounting regulations.
  • Financial Record Maintenance: Review and update financial records, including general ledgers, to guarantee accurate maintenance, control, and reporting of revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities.
  • Month-End Closing: Execute the month-end closing process for the Finance General Ledger. This includes reviewing, monitoring, and approving daily transactions, confirming the accuracy of funding sources, and balancing monthly reports.
  • Interdepartmental Transactions: Process interdepartmental transactions and journals across the university. Ensure correct signatures and funding, address inquiries related to transactions, and monitor financial transactions daily.
  • Reporting: Prepare internal and external reports in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Reconciliation: Conduct monthly reconciliations and generate financial reports, responding to audit requests from both internal and external sources.
  • Grant Management: Assist in the closeout of grants from various funding sources and support year-end financial reporting efforts.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research analyses and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

Knowledge: Familiarity with federal, state, local, and county laws, as well as policies and procedures relevant to accounting practices. Comprehensive knowledge in multiple disciplines is required, with a focus on generally accepted accounting principles and automated accounting systems.

Skills: Strong attention to detail, effective customer service, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in multitasking and time management are essential. The candidate should also possess strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Experience: A minimum of three to five years of relevant experience is required.
