Position Title: Configuration Management Specialist

Department: Engineering, Configuration Management

Role Summary:

The Configuration Management Specialist plays a vital role in engineering support and data governance, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of configuration items throughout the lifecycle of products and programs.

This position involves thorough review of technical drawings and documentation, requiring collaboration with various departments including Program Management, Engineering, Contracts, and Quality to manage documentation changes effectively. The primary focus is to uphold the integrity of system documentation, design artifacts, baselines, and related configuration data through established processes and controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain configuration management strategies, processes, and documentation to ensure compliance and integrity of product configurations.
  • Oversee the configuration lifecycle, including identification, change control, status tracking, and audits, while ensuring accurate records of configuration items.
  • Facilitate the lifecycle of engineering and program documentation, ensuring the organization, review, approval, and release of engineering drawings with accuracy and version control.
  • Review and integrate formal program documentation, coordinating with relevant teams to meet evolving requirements and maintain data integrity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve configuration challenges, implement enhancements, and promote best practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members on configuration management methodologies, tools, and documentation standards.
  • Serve as the primary contact for program technical data, ensuring adherence to data identification and release protocols.
  • Implement data control measures to safeguard intellectual property and uphold quality standards.
  • Establish and maintain baselines, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and configuration standards.
  • Generate and manage Configuration Status Accounting reports and facilitate Configuration Control Boards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 2 years of related experience. Alternatively, a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Eligibility to obtain a future Security Clearance is required; U.S. citizenship is necessary for this role.
  • Experience in configuration management, particularly within aerospace, defense, or high-tech sectors.
  • Proficient understanding of EIA-649, ISO 10007, or equivalent standards, with 2+ years of experience.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Costpoint ERP or similar software is preferred.
  • Experience with engineering CAD documentation, including schematics and assembly diagrams.
  • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat, MS Office Suite, Teams, and Project.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 Quality Standards.
  • Certification in Configuration Management (CMPIC or similar).
  • Understanding of government and industry export regulations (ITAR, EAR, CUI).
  • Experience with PLM, CRM, and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM and SharePoint.
