Job Overview

The Idaho Housing and Finance Association is on the lookout for a Collections Representative to enhance our Mortgage Loan Servicing team. In this role, you will engage directly with borrowers who have fallen behind on their home loan payments. Your responsibilities will include making and receiving calls to provide essential financial education and counseling tailored to each borrower's loan situation. Our primary objective is to assist borrowers in retaining their homes, utilizing various loss mitigation strategies to achieve this aim.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer precise guidance on payment methods based on individual loan circumstances.
  • Quickly evaluate loan statuses and borrower situations to provide appropriate assistance or referrals.
  • Deliver HUD Counseling services.
  • Assess borrowers for Home Retention Programs according to loan types.
  • Coordinate property inspections and manage property preservation efforts as dictated by servicing guidelines for FHA, FNMA, FHLMC, USDA, and VA.
  • Address delinquency through collection initiatives and borrower support programs.

Position Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience with loss mitigation programs and loan counseling.
  • HUD Counseling Certification must be obtained within six months of employment.
  • A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in mortgage servicing and/or collections is necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail is essential.
  • Team collaboration is crucial.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills are required.
  • Strong phone etiquette and customer service capabilities are a must.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment is important.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
