Position Overview:

Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Neurologist with specialized training in dementia or a generalist with a strong interest in cognitive health to enhance our neurology team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver expert clinical care to patients facing cognitive challenges, including the assessment, treatment, and management of neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
  • Conduct thorough neurological assessments, encompassing detailed history-taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic test interpretations to ensure precise diagnoses and effective treatment strategies.
  • Engage in collaborative care with fellow professionals, including neuropsychologists and psychiatrists, to provide comprehensive support for patients with cognitive impairments.
  • Educate patients and their families on disease management, lifestyle adjustments, and care planning, fostering an inclusive decision-making process.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and multidisciplinary discussions to share knowledge and enhance the collective expertise of the neurology team.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and adhere to all regulatory and hospital standards.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a Neurology residency program.
  • Fellowship training in dementia or cognitive neurology, or a significant interest in cognitive health.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Neurology.
  • Possession of a valid Texas medical license.
  • Exceptional clinical abilities, including effective history-taking and diagnostic test interpretation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
