Position Overview

Dogwood Industries is in search of a Material Handling Specialist at our manufacturing facility. The primary responsibility of the Material Handling Specialist is to ensure the efficient and precise receipt and storage of materials utilized in our production processes. This role is crucial to the production team and requires a thorough understanding of materials and the manufacturing workflow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize a schedule for incoming materials and devise strategies for unloading them
  • Accurately process departmental requisitions and distribute components throughout the facility
  • Conduct material inspections
  • Review and verify purchase orders
  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation of materials
  • Adhere to material control protocols
  • Communicate effectively with procurement personnel, supervisors, and relevant production staff regarding material deliveries
  • Manage material inventory and storage

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing setting
  • Strong organizational abilities and capacity to track, retain, and integrate information
  • Ability to interact confidently with all levels of the organization
  • Capability to meet critical deadlines and schedules
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe
  • Excellent written communication skills, with proper grammar and spelling

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of forklift operation experience
  • Previous experience in construction, warehousing, or manufacturing
  • Experience in shipping and/or receiving is advantageous

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical requirements outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While executing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to have full mobility in both upper and lower body, reach overhead, and work in various positions, including but not limited to stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, and squatting. The employee must be able to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment to complete assigned tasks, with the ability to lift up to 70 pounds as needed. Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors is expected. This position involves physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily tasks in a primarily production environment.

Compensation
$34.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
