Library Technician/Paraprofessional - AI and Digital Collections Enhancement

The Library Technician/Paraprofessional will play a vital role in the organization, cataloging, and digitization of library resources, while contributing to the enhancement of digital collections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the systematic organization, cataloging, and upkeep of library resources.
  • Support the digitization efforts of print and multimedia materials.
  • Provide reference and research support to library patrons.
  • Manage circulation services and maintain records of borrowers.
  • Prepare and process requests for interlibrary loans.
  • Assist in compiling library reports, statistics, and organizing events.
  • Ensure the physical integrity of library materials.
  • Contribute to digital collections enhancement initiatives and metadata management.
  • Collaborate with digital librarians to enhance access to digital resources.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Library Sciences or a related discipline OR an Associate's degree with an additional TWO (2) years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of TWO (2) years of experience in a library setting.
  • Familiarity with digital collections, metadata standards, and cataloging practices.
  • Experience with innovative technologies in library cataloging systems and databases.
  • Basic understanding of digitization techniques and digital library management.
  • Exposure to metadata mappings and transformations in library and information science.
  • Proficiency in library management software and standard office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with digital collections enhancement projects and knowledge of digital asset management systems.
  • Additional certifications in Library Science, Information Technology, or Data Science.
  • Understanding of basic preservation and conservation methods.
  • Interest in developing new workflows and technological solutions for digital collections.
  • Prior experience with NIH is highly regarded.

The annual salary range for this position is $87,100.00-$130,000. Compensation decisions are influenced by various factors, including skill sets, experience, training, security clearances, licensure, certifications, and other organizational needs.
