About the Role

Tetra Tech is seeking an experienced Hazard Mitigation Project Manager to join our growing national mitigation and resilience practice. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on high-profile projects, develop innovative solutions, and collaborate with industry-leading experts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage staff to develop high-quality deliverables through project management and achieve client satisfaction.
  • Grow the practice through new and repeat clients by identifying public and private funding sources and developing business development strategies.
  • Conduct outreach, stakeholder engagement, and facilitation of meetings with clients and residents to support local government and public outreach.
  • Interpret risk assessment results and communicate in written plans to support local plans, ordinances, policies, and update hazard mitigation plans accordingly.
  • Manage large data sets and identify mitigation projects to reduce natural hazard risk.
  • Conduct capacity building activities, including developing decision support tools, strategy development, and community engagement.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Sustainability, Climate Change, Resilience, Public Policy, or related field.
  • Certified by American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or working toward certification.
  • Experience developing plans in compliance with SB 379 and SB 747, FEMA DMA 2000 planning, and U.S. HUD CDBG-MIT planning.
  • General planning experience, including city comprehensive/general plans, and Community Wildfire Protection Planning experience.
  • Travel up to 30% and a valid driver's license.
Desired Qualifications
  • Passionate about hazard mitigation, community resilience, and climate adaptation.
  • Proven track record for project management of planning projects.
  • Robust network in the mitigation and resilience space to support business development.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated knowledge of mitigation and resilience planning, land use/general planning, mitigation and adaptation strategy identification, risk assessment, climate hazards, federal/state funding mechanisms, federal and state climate, resilience, emergency management policies and programs, best practices, and standards.
  • Proven and demonstrated high-quality technical writing skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills, with the ability to multi-task and problem-solve.
