We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Supervisor to join our team at the Institute for Defense Analyses in La Jolla, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the IT staff and operations at our Center for Communications Research, ensuring the security and integrity of our IT systems, and providing exceptional support to our users.
Key Responsibilities- Supervision of IT Staff: Assign projects, oversee completion, hire new staff, mentor employees, evaluate job performance, and counsel on professional development.
- IT System Operations: Supervise hardware installation and maintenance, software installation, patches, and upgrades; ensure documentation is created and maintained; provide user support and help; develop disaster recovery procedures and respond to system failures.
- IT System Security: Coordinate with ISSO and security officer on sponsor requirements; direct configuration and change management, including audit activities; ensure required system accreditations are accomplished.
- System Acquisition and Disposition: Interact with management and research staff on systems requirements; evaluate vendors and products/services; ensure budgets are adhered to; supervise decommissioning of old systems.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience, including 5 years in system administration with significant exposure to Linux and Windows, and 5 years in IT management.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to obtain and maintain required IT security certifications; familiarity with certification and accreditation process; experience managing IT or Information Security projects and teams; self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision; excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to interface with all levels of employees.
