Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

This position is integral to a dynamic team focused on transforming the aerospace industry. The selected candidate will engage in innovative projects that aim to enhance access to space through cutting-edge technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with design engineers to evaluate and endorse part and tooling assemblies, providing insights based on enhanced Design for Manufacturing (DfM) strategies.
- Develop comprehensive work instructions and training materials to effectively communicate manufacturing processes to technicians.
- Implement process improvement techniques (e.g., value stream mapping, problem-solving methodologies, visual management) to optimize production efficiency and minimize quality issues.
- Conduct capacity assessments to determine ideal staffing levels.
- Plan and execute upgrades to capital equipment and layout to meet production demands.
- Work closely with structural analysts to ensure that performance targets are achieved.
- Provide hands-on engineering support for prototype development and testing phases.
- Design effective material handling, packaging, and labeling systems to safeguard hardware throughout the manufacturing and testing lifecycle.
- Support testing operations, contributing to design improvements and process reliability.
- Develop strategies for planning, controlling, and optimizing workflows within the Manufacturing Execution System.
- Create tooling, jigs, and fixtures to facilitate parts manufacturing.
- Foster relationships with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of hardware and equipment.
- Operate various equipment, including wire EDM, band saws, CNC machines, and hand tools as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering field.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in a Manufacturing, Production, or Process Engineering role.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering models, drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
- Familiarity with metal and polymer additive manufacturing processes and best practices.
- Knowledge of composites manufacturing processes and best practices.
- Flexibility to work varied hours as needed.
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined in 22 CFR Part.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in an industrial setting, particularly in the development of high-performance composite components.
- Experience in composite design and production for aerospace applications.
- Proficiency in CAM Programming.
- Knowledge of Design for Additive Manufacturing for both metal and polymer processes.
- Familiarity with NX and other CAD software.
- Understanding of industry standards and references.
