Job Summary

Manage Health and Environmental Protection

This role has overall responsibility for ensuring the health and safety of personnel, as well as the environmental responsibilities for the facility, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation and services to leadership on Environmental, Health, and Safety issues.
  • Represent EHS on facility planning and design, providing guidance.
  • Develop and communicate EHS vision and strategic plan.
  • Conduct EHS training and company-wide communications.
  • Develop and communicate annual EHS goals and objectives.
  • Deploy EHS management systems and processes.
  • Work with departments to design/implement/audit EHS processes.
  • Track EHS performance metrics.
  • Develop site-specific EHS plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations.
  • Conduct self-inspections and audits.
  • Investigate accidents and develop prevention and control methods.
  • Determine environmental issues through testing and data analysis.
  • Resolving environmental issues through research and coordination.
  • Evaluate job tasks for safety and recommend improvements.
  • Manage the Safety Committee and schedule safety training.
  • Ensure hearing and respiratory testing.
  • Maintain the electronic MSDS system.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and bend.

  • Must have the ability to wear personal protective equipment.

Travel Estimate

Up to 10%.

Education and Qualifications

A minimum of a B.S. in a science-related degree or closely related field. M.S./PhD preferred.

  • Professional certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) highly desirable.
  • Regulatory expertise with complete knowledge of local, state, and federal Environmental, Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Strong computer literacy and application capability required.
  • Hazard identification.
  • Able to develop and deliver training and development activities.
  • Able to conduct Accident/Incident Investigations.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • A self-starter with a hands-on approach and a can-do attitude.
  • A team building champion driving innovative cross-functional synergies.
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with people at all levels.
  • Knowledge of environmental management programs and related software is considered a plus.

Experience

A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the management of Safety and Environmental Health programs, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
