Schedule Overview:
This flexible position will be scheduled based on weekly needs. Availability for both AM and PM shifts is essential. AM shifts commence at 6 AM and conclude by 2:30 PM, while mid shifts run from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM. PM shifts begin at 2:00 PM and end at 7:30 PM. Key Responsibilities:
The Nutritional Support Specialist performs various operational and administrative tasks to ensure optimal nutritional care for patients, serving as a vital communication link between patients, nursing units, and the Food and Nutrition Services Department.

Core Duties:

Utilize EMR (electronic medical record) and hospital room service systems to access the latest dietary information for each patient.

Monitor EMR to ensure all food allergy information is accurately entered into the hospital room service system.

Process new dietary requirements and changes promptly. Respond to phone calls and voicemails efficiently to assist callers accurately. Guide patients in menu selection according to dietary restrictions. Track patients' carbohydrate and sodium intake based on prescribed dietary guidelines. Ensure the accuracy of room trays by confirming selections with patients. Update relevant menu and nourishment orders with precision. Address general inquiries regarding approved diets. Notify the Clinical Dietitian about patients with dietary questions or those not adhering to prescribed diets.

Clarify diet orders with the dietitian or nursing staff when necessary.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and capable of performing assigned data entry tasks. Able to assist with basic food preparation tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED preferred. 2-4 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office Suite is required.
