Job Summary

Codman Square Health Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Service Representative to join our team. As a key member of our front office staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support in a fast-paced medical environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome patients and establish a positive first impression
  • Monitor waiting rooms and coordinate with clinical staff to notify patients of delays
  • Perform patient check-in functions, including registration, insurance verification, and collecting co-pays
  • Explain patient responsibilities, including arrival and appointment times, form requirements, and payment expectations
  • Enter accurate patient data, telephone encounters, referrals, and forms into the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Assist patients with completing and collecting pre-visit, consent, and other forms
  • Schedule appointments and promote the Patient Portal
  • Perform patient check-out, including scheduling follow-up appointments and educating patients on the referral process
  • Coordinate patient transfers from clinics and Urgent Care
  • Manage in-basket patient-related messages in a timely manner
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a medical or clinical office environment or health or dental insurance industry
  • Previous customer service background required
  • Haitian Creole or Spanish preferred
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interact with diverse patient populations
  • Solid computer literacy and ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize work
  • Solid understanding of medical insurance terminology
  • Previous experience with Community Health Center or Hospital patient registration systems and insurance eligibility verification systems
