Job Summary

Compunnel is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse. This is a 13-week contract position that requires a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Administer and monitor patient responses to all medications.
  • Direct and guide patient care, teaching, and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing within the realm of hospital policy.
  • Maintain and deliver the highest quality customer service standards.
  • Properly utilize the nursing process in caring for patients by maintaining relevant, accurate, and current patient records.
  • Provide documentation of assessment of the patient throughout the hospital admission, including physical, psychological, social dimensions, and discharge plans.
  • Summarize assessment data and initiate a plan of care with communication of pertinent data to allied patient care providers.
  • Understand, assume, and demonstrate proficiency in the role of charge nurse.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computerized nursing informatics (information systems).
  • Assume the role of resource person regarding patient care, orientation, and teaching staff.
  • Participate in at least four-unit staff meetings per year, attend mandatory programs, and obtain three hours of Patient Care Assessment Committee (PCAC) credit per year.
  • Participate in the identification of aspects of care for the patient, indicators used to monitor the quality and appropriateness of care, and the evaluation of that care.
  • Adhere to safety, blood/body fluid policies and procedures.
  • Assess personal learning development needs and maintain documentation of current and ongoing professional development activities.
  • Regularly update knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the age of the patient served.
  • Show a willingness to participate on nursing committees.
  • Represent the hospital in the community and within the hospital by maintaining confidentiality regarding patients and hospital matters and by presenting the hospital in a manner that will best market the services provided.
  • Perform other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested by his/her immediate supervisor.
  • Consistently provide service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers in a manner that reflects the hospital's commitment to compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and service.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse.
  • Basic Life Support Certification required.
  • Psychiatric experience preferred.
