Psychiatric Admissions Coordinator 2

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Admissions Coordinator 2 to join our team at McLean Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating inpatient admissions for psychiatric and substance abuse referrals across four campuses, 24/7/365.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interview patients, family members, or referring professionals to obtain clinical and demographic data, following established admission procedures.
- Gather comprehensive and accurate information relevant to the need for inpatient admission, as demonstrated by minimal need for clinicians to recollect same data.
- Review EPIC records for patients being referred within MGB, reviewing clinical, medical, and ED timelines to review patients' full clinical presentation.
- Triage urgent and emergent calls to appropriate levels of care, including referral of patients in crisis to emergency rooms when indicated and/or contacting 911 regarding patients at immediate risk.
- Respond to preadmission inquiries promptly, as indicated by lack of complaint.
- Interact with patients, family members, or referring professionals in a courteous and professional manner, as indicated by lack of complaint.
- With medically or psychiatrically complicated cases, review inquiries with Unit Nursing Supervisors or Doctors on Call or department managers in a timely and professional manner, as indicated by lack of complaint.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Three to five years of experience in mental health care settings, with at least one year as a Psych Triage Associate.
- Demonstrated strong interviewing skills, clinical knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and treatment, data entry, excellent interpersonal communication via telephone and in person, and a high degree of comfort working with a psychiatric population.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and good judgment, knowledge of computer terminals, EPIC, and Microsoft Teams preferred.
