Job Title: Psychiatric Nurse Supervisor

McLean Hospital(MCL) is seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Nurse Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our nursing leadership, you will be responsible for facilitating optimal utilization of nursing staff during designated shifts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise nursing staff (RN and MHS staff) in their day-to-day duties on behalf of Nursing Leadership.
  • Provide administrative/clinical supervision and consultation; serve as a resource in emergency situations.
  • Collaborate with the Nursing Directors to ensure quality of care and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and facilitate night shift admissions or transfers to emergency departments, following Admissions department processes.
  • Perform administrative duties, including assisting with staffing and completing documentation for necessary forms.
  • Triage and expedite issues of concern to the Administrator on Call.
  • Provide on-site clinical leadership presence for troubleshooting issues that may arise.
  • Communicate information to relevant departments, including Intake.
  • Provide nursing staff with clinical instruction or guidance, when required.
  • Assist with orientation of new night staff.
  • Ensure policies and procedures for patient care are in compliance.
  • Maintain standards required by regulatory and accrediting bodies.
  • Facilitate resolution of questions and issues relating to departmental operations.
  • Provide on-site supervision, in the absence of the Nursing Director or Manager.
  • Interface collaboratively with adjunct services and departments.
  • Communicate in a timely manner to relevant personnel on other shifts.
  • Procure supplies, equipment or medications, as needed.
  • Assist with rapid COVID testing, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Master's degree in psychiatric nursing or BSN degree.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Skills/Experience:
  • MSN - 18 months experience in psychiatric inpatient setting.
  • BSN - 3 years experience in a psychiatric setting.
