Job Title: Quarterly Lecturer of Classics

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Quarterly Lecturer of Classics to join our team at Santa Clara University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in Classics, including a Mythology course that focuses on the religious dimensions of myth, a course about monuments of ancient Mediterranean cultures, and a two-quarter sequence that satisfies the university's Cultures and Ideas I and II core requirement.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach courses in Classics, including Mythology and monuments of ancient Mediterranean cultures
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and assessments
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students
  • Hold regular office hours and be available to students
  • Submit student grades and evaluations in a timely manner
Requirements:
  • Terminal degree (Ph.D./MFA) in Classics or a closely-related field
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching ancient culture courses at the college level
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations of students
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with inclusive pedagogical practices that advance SCU goals of diversity and equity
  • Experience teaching and mentoring a diverse population of undergraduate students
Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this position is $9033 per 4 or 5 unit course. The university offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
