At Austin Proper Hotel & Residences, we are seeking a skilled Massage Therapist to join our team at the Verbena Spa. As a Massage Therapist, you will provide a range of therapeutic and beauty treatments to our guests, aiming to relax and rejuvenate them.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the policies of Proper Hospitality.
  • Perform massage services that meet the established guidelines and fulfill guest expectations.
  • Assess contraindications of guests that may prevent service from taking place.
  • Meet the needs of guests at all times throughout the service.
  • Understand and use universal precautions when providing services.
  • Clean and disinfect all equipment on a daily basis according to CDC guidelines.
  • Maintain the highest level of product knowledge and have complete knowledge of all spa services presently offered.
  • Answer guests' questions in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
  • Suggest beneficial treatments to guests and upsell products and services.
  • Begins and ends all treatments on time.
  • Work assigned schedule and arrive and depart from their shift on time.
  • Ensure that work areas are clean and set according to procedures.
  • Inform Spa Director or other management personnel about product needs.
  • Create and maintain client cards and treatment notes, when appropriate.
  • Complete all assigned side work.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and professional training.
  • Report any incidents or accidents to a member of the management team.
  • Assist with cleanliness of Spa Locker and Fitness Rooms if needed.
Requirements
  • Valid state license in massage therapy with a minimum of 750 hours and a valid esthetic license.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably in a luxury spa or hospitality environment.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

  • Ability to multitask efficiently, while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of spa treatments, products, and wellness practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Familiarity with reservation management software and POS systems.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Demonstrate ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with other colleagues and departments.
  • Demonstrate ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly, correctly, and in a way that allows one to solve work-related issues.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
