Job Overview

As a Spa Lead Therapist at Proper Hospitality, you will be responsible for providing exceptional spa therapies to our guests while leading a team of skilled service providers. Your expertise and leadership skills will be essential in creating a seamless and relaxing experience for our guests.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Adhere to the policies and standards of Proper Hospitality
  • Act as a liaison between service providers and spa management
  • Create and update spa therapy protocols
  • Train new and current colleagues on protocols, room standards, and Verbena/Austin Proper standards
  • Connect with therapists on any issues or concerns related to protocols and standards
  • Create therapy and retail incentive programs
  • Maintain a monthly backbar inventory log
  • Attend bi-weekly spa management meetings
  • Work with the Lead Therapist on development and therapist maintenance
  • Coordinate monthly check-ins with therapists
  • Work one non-service provider shift per week

Service Provider Responsibilities/Duties
  • Perform spa therapies that meet the established guidelines for fulfilling guest expectations
  • Assess guest contraindications that may prevent service from taking place
  • Meet the needs of the guest throughout the service
  • Understand and use universal precautions when providing services
  • Clean and disinfect all equipment daily according to CDC guidelines
  • Maintain the highest level of product knowledge and complete knowledge of all spa service offerings
  • Understand the ingredients in products and explain their benefits to guests
  • Answer guests' questions in a knowledgeable and professional manner
  • Suggest additional treatments to complement guests' services
  • Adhere to the scheduled treatment time
  • Ensure work areas are clean and set according to procedures
  • Inform Spa Director and/or other Lead about operational and product needs
  • Take ownership of guest glitches and find creative solutions
  • Report maintenance issues in a timely manner
  • Utilize Proper computer systems (Excel, Word, Outlook, Book4Time, etc.)
  • Create and maintain client cards and treatment notes, when appropriate
  • Complete assigned side work
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and professional training
  • Report any incidents or accidents to a member of the management team
  • Assist with cleanliness of Spa Locker and Fitness Rooms as needed

Qualifications
  • Valid state license in massage therapy with a minimum of 750 hours and/or a valid esthetic license
  • Previous massage, facial, waxing, and body work experience
  • Experience leading a team
  • 3+ years of progressive customer service experience, preferably in a spa and hotel
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Availability must include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be on schedule 5 days a week with 1 day being a Saturday or Sunday
  • 36 bookable hours
  • 4 office hours
  • 40 hours in total
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of constantly to move objects
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
