Job Title: Assistant Building Official

Join the Town of East Hartford, CT as an Assistant Building Official and play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Building Official to assist in the administration and enforcement of the State of Connecticut Building Codes and related regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs inspection, review, and enforcement duties to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Provides lead supervision in inspecting, reviewing, and accepting plumbing, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, fire protection, and ancillary installations.
  • Investigates complaints of building code violations and takes corrective action.
  • Provides technical consultation to town departments and commissions as needed.
Requirements:
  • Certified as an Assistant Building Official, Section of the Connecticut General Statutes.
  • Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • P-2 and P1 (licensed for at least 2 years minimum).
  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or GED equivalent, and five (5) years of experience in general construction and related fields.
