Job Title: Guest Services Supervisor

About the Role:

The Guest Services Supervisor is a key member of our team at The Friends of Iolani Palace, responsible for leading a team of Guest Services Associates to provide exceptional visitor experiences. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for sharing the rich cultural heritage of Hawaii.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage a team of Guest Services Associates to ensure seamless visitor experiences.
  • Handle visitor inquiries, complaints, and issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Monitor visitor traffic and ensure capacity limits are not exceeded.
  • Coordinate the flow of station changes for Guest Services Associates.
  • Plan alternative procedures to accommodate staffing changes.
  • Be an ambassador of the Palace, sharing cultural knowledge and experience with visitors.
  • Ensure visitor safety by observing surroundings and interactions.
  • Provide information on nearby attractions and cultural sites.
  • Coordinate with security and housekeeping staff for visitor needs.
  • Promote patronage to our gift shop.
  • Participate in professional training opportunities.
  • Coverage for other departments as needed.

Requirements:

  • Recent supervisory experience.
  • Prior experience in tourism and/or service industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn basic phrases in multiple languages to direct visitors.
  • Sensitivity to cultural issues and the significance of the Palace to Hawaii's communities.
  • Flexibility with schedule to work weekends and evenings as needed.

Available Shifts and Compensation:

We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $22.00 - $22.01/hour.

Iolani Palace, the official residence of Hawaii's monarchy, is a marvel of opulence, innovation, and political intrigue. Meticulously restored to its former grandeur, this National Historic Landmark in downtown Honolulu tells of a time when their Majesties, King Kalakaua, who built the palace in 1882, and his sister and successor, Queen Liliuokalani, walked its celebrated halls.
