Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Supervisory Interdisciplinary Engineer to join our team at the U.S. Pacific Fleet, Commander in Chief. As a key member of our Production Engineering and Facilities Division, you will play a critical role in providing technical evaluations and recommendations to support the development and improvement of shipyard utilities, facilities, and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical evaluations and recommendations to support short and long-range development and continuing improvements to shipyard utilities, facilities, and equipment.
  • Offer engineering, design, consultation, and coordination services for areas under your cognizance.
  • Provide administrative and technical supervision, including planning and assigning work, setting priorities, filling vacancies, resolving complaints and grievances, providing performance evaluations, and developing training plans.
  • Identify the need for new, additional, or improved shipyard utilities, facilities, and equipment.
  • Collect, assemble, analyze, and present information to establish the need for new or improved utilities, facilities, and equipment, validate cost and savings, determine proper funding sources, integrate priorities, and provide status on projects.
  • Provide engineering support and guidance in the resolution of installation, operational, and maintenance problems with equipment and industrial facilities throughout the shipyard and other naval installations.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • As a professional engineer, planning, developing, and advising on naval vessel, power plant, or production support facilities and equipment maintenance to ensure mission-essential equipment and industrial facilities requirements are met.

Applicants must meet the basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management, which include successful completion of a professional engineering degree or current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

Position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

ICTAP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation.

Military Spouse Preference applicants will be placed at the highest grade for which they have applied and are determined Best Qualified (BQ).
