Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator to join our team at BAE Systems. The successful candidate will have experience with Internet Protocol (IP) Radio telecommunications network design, installation, documentation, operations, maintenance, system engineering, sustainment engineering, management, and oversight for a government agency's IP-based radio telecommunications infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will provide administrative network and radio support for special C2 systems, including High Frequency (HF), Very High Frequency (VHF), and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) radios transmission systems. They will also maintain and troubleshoot SATCOM systems, provide Land Mobile Radio (LMR) connections between radio users and dispatched operators located around the Washington DC metro area, and document and report on a daily basis the status of assigned responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, install, and maintain IP Radio telecommunications networks
  • Provide administrative network and radio support for special C2 systems
  • Maintain and troubleshoot SATCOM systems
  • Provide LMR connections between radio users and dispatched operators
  • Document and report on a daily basis the status of assigned responsibilities
Requirements
  • High school diploma and a minimum of 10 years of direct experience with telecommunications, integration design, installation, and support
  • Background investigation adjudicated within the past three years
  • Extensive server experience
  • Experience with Wide Area Networks
  • Experience with IP routing schemes, configuration, and troubleshooting routers and switches
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem isolation techniques for solving complex troubles with telecommunication instruments, equipment, circuits, channels, and trunk troubles
  • Ability to perform comprehensive equipment and system level maintenance for any of the following equipment/systems: HF, UHF, VHF, and Demand Assigned Multiple Access (DAMA) technology
  • Security + certification in accordance with DOD 8570 instruction
  • Experience with radio transmission technology, RF theory, HF, UHF, VHF radio systems
  • Experience with any of the following Motorola Base Station equipment: Motorola APX-600, Vertex Radio, Motorola Astro Mobile, Motorola XTS-5000, Motorola TXM 2000 VHF, Motorola GTR 8000, Digital Interface Unit (DIU), Astro Tac Comparator (ATAC), Motorola XTS-3000, Motorola Radio Gateway Unit (RGU), Wave Routers, KVL Key Loaders
  • Experience with Juniper, Circuit to Packet (CTP-150)
  • Knowledge of L3 Harris AN/PRC-117G Satcom
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem isolation techniques for solving complex troubles with telecommunication equipment, circuits, channels, and trunk troubles
  • Considerable knowledge base of secure communications instruments, MB lines, T-1 primary rate interfaces
  • Capable of performing essential technical maintenance activities and telecommunications equipment installations, de-installations IAW applicable published standards with minimal guidance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate certification (CCNA)
  • Network+ certification in accordance with DOD 8570 instruction
  • Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCP, MCS)
  • Experience using test equipment such as O-scope, Fireberd, and transmission test sets
  • Familiarity with patch panels
  • Ability to be self-reliant
  • Ability to professionally interact with high-level military officers and civilian officials on a daily basis
  • Quality assurance experience with both new and upgraded telecommunications systems
  • Trainer/training experience
  • Positive service-oriented attitude
  • Military experience/knowledge of customs and courtesies
  • Experience with larger enterprise IP networks and related networking equipment
  • Knowledge of DoD policies and procedures with regard to the installation, configuration, and management of Cisco IP Systems

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
