Position Summary:

The Building Engineer plays a crucial role in assisting the management with the daily functionality of all building systems. Responsibilities encompass maintenance and repair of hard surfaces, basic carpentry, metal work, and the operation, upkeep, and repair of all facility system equipment related to HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on buildings, utilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Enhance the efficiency of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems through effective troubleshooting and repair practices.
  • Ensure continuous operation of equipment by identifying and resolving issues promptly.
  • Provide hands-on training and support to fellow engineering team members.
  • Encourage a work environment focused on energy conservation and ongoing improvement of engineering functions.
  • Document all relevant data in building logbooks and maintain accurate daily records.
  • Conduct tests on utilities and equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local codes and requirements.
  • Complete administrative paperwork following departmental policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate as a team member, demonstrating a commitment to quality service.
  • Adhere to safety programs and policies established by Able Engineering Services.
  • Maintain regular attendance and provide high-quality service to tenants, staff, and visitors.
  • Engage in regular communication with the Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, management, tenants, and other staff.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience commensurate with the specific facility.
  • Minimum of 3 years in an engineering role.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Possession of the highest-level relevant state/local license for Stationary Engineer and/or HVAC, along with a universal level refrigerant recovery license.
  • Proficient in computer skills and building automation systems.
  • Certification in OSHA ACM awareness training as required.
  • Working knowledge of energy conservation principles; formal training is preferred.
