Job Summary:

As a Respiratory Care Practitioner II at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating respiratory therapy care and life support for patients in adult intensive care, pediatrics, and med/surg units. You will work under the supervision of a physician and prescription to provide high-quality care and services to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
  • Apply philosophy and demonstrate knowledge of the Patient Bill of Rights, treating members, coworkers, and individual employees with respect and dignity.
  • Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of both members and employees with regard to medical records and communication regarding disease, conditions, and members.
  • Provide life support services, oxygen therapy, medical gas therapy, pharmaceutical treatments, chest physiotherapy, blood gas draws, and other patient comfort duties necessary to maintain the flow of patient care in the unit.
  • Perform procedures for disinfecting and sterilization, adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Participate in training and orientation of new employees as required, and participate in and provide patient education within the department and medical center.
Requirements:
  • Experience: One (1) year of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in adult intensive care, pediatrics, and med/surg.
  • Education: Graduate of an approved 2-year Respiratory Care program accredited by the Respiratory Care Accrediting Board (RCAB) or Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
  • License, Certification, Registration: Respiratory Care Practitioner License (California) from National Board of Respiratory Care, Basic Life Support, Registered Respiratory Therapist Certificate.
