We are looking for a

Machining Operations Supervisor

to lead our team in

Redmond, Washington.

This position is a non-Union, day shift role, and candidates should be flexible to work additional shifts or overtime as necessary to meet production deadlines.

At our facility in

Redmond, WA,

we specialize in the fabrication, assembly, and testing of chemical and electric propulsion systems, along with small-scale propulsion technologies.


Our propulsion systems support a diverse range of missions, from exploring our solar system to facilitating global communications and monitoring environmental conditions.


Key Responsibilities:


Oversee the setup, management, and upkeep of a compact (approximately 500 square foot) prototype and tooling machine shop, which includes several manual lathes, milling machines, and various auxiliary equipment.

Ensure the machine shop is consistently maintained in a tidy and organized manner. Prioritize incoming work orders and process them based on receipt or as directed by engineering.

Procure cutters, consumables, and inspection tools regularly to ensure the shop is equipped for the fabrication of machined components.

A budget will be allocated for these activities.

Interpret planning documents, drawings, tool orders, blueprints, sketches, specifications, engineering orders, and quality assurance manuals to ascertain the methods and sequence of operations required to fabricate and assemble various tools, molds, jigs, dies, and fixtures.

Utilize shop mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry to layout details, dimensions, and tooling points of parts, tools, molds, jigs, dies, and fixtures prior to fabrication.

Set up and operate hand tools and power machine tools, including manual and NC mills and lathes.

Fabricate, assemble, and validate a variety of molds, jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies, as well as inspection check fixtures and tools, to specified configurations.

Parts may require precise dimensions and tolerances.

Typical components include inspection gauges, handling and assembly fixtures, pressure and leak testing fixtures, and fixtures that incorporate indexing principles.

Common materials include stainless steel, aluminum, engineered plastics, and occasionally exotic materials such as magnesium or ceramics.

Fabricate and inspect small machined components and weld samples for adjacent testing facilities according to limited dimension drawings and engineering sketches.

Verify work in progress and completed parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with specified configurations, dimensions, tolerances, and finishes.

Document manufacturing data in a computer-based work tracking/ERP system.

Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or 2 years of post-secondary/Associates Degree with at least 2 years of related experience.

Preferred Skills:
5 years of machining experience or equivalent tool and die maker experience.
Ability to read and interpret engineering documents, drawings, blueprints, engineering models, and conceptual designs.
Understanding of Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
Knowledge of machining theory, mechanical systems, welding, and assembly processes.
Capability to fabricate and construct various types of tooling.
Familiarity with tolerance stack-up and datum structures.
Strong mathematical skills.
Experience with jigs, fixtures, inspection check fixtures, and tooling dies.
Proven safety record and understanding of manufacturing processes, safety regulations, and requirements.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Able to work effectively in a team environment, independently, and embrace continuous improvement.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $23.32/hr MIN - $43.51/hr MAX.

This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amounts may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
