Position Summary:

MV Transportation is in search of a Fleet Operations Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance activities during their designated shift. This role is critical in ensuring the effective upkeep and repair of a diverse fleet of vehicles, including buses and sedans.

The supervisor will be responsible for leading the maintenance team, ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations, and managing the maintenance program's reporting and work order tracking.

Reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Manager, the Fleet Operations Maintenance Supervisor will play a key role in the daily operations of the maintenance department. Candidates should possess strong technical skills in light and medium-duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager and other supervisors to schedule and manage vehicle maintenance effectively.
  • Maintain open communication with operations to ensure timely responses to road calls.
  • Prioritize safety, quality, and efficiency while estimating productivity times and adjusting shift schedules as necessary.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate priorities and assign tasks related to vehicle inspection, servicing, and repair.
  • Supervise maintenance staff to ensure timely completion of assignments and maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Monitor employee attendance and work hours, coordinating with the Maintenance Manager to manage time-off requests and overtime usage.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on various service and repair tasks, including electrical systems and major component rebuilds.
  • Document and recommend disciplinary actions and commendations as needed, ensuring fair treatment of all staff.
  • Assist in diagnosing equipment malfunctions and resolving work-related issues during shifts.
  • Generate and track work orders in the Fleet Focus Maintenance Management System as required.
  • Help develop and enforce compliance with departmental policies, safety standards, and quality control processes to optimize operations.
  • Manage the retrieval and logging of parts and supplies necessary for maintenance tasks.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in fleet equipment repair and preventive maintenance.
  • At least five (5) years of supervisory experience or a combination of relevant training and experience.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
  • Possession of a California Motor Vehicle Inspection License is required.
