Responsibilities:

MV Transportation is in search of a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance operations during their designated shift. This role encompasses preventative maintenance and repair of a substantial fleet of buses and sedans, managing all maintenance personnel during their assigned hours, ensuring that all contractual obligations are fulfilled, and supervising the maintenance program along with reports while tracking work orders and processing them appropriately. The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor will collaborate closely with the Fleet Maintenance Manager to facilitate the daily operations of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager, other Maintenance Supervisors, and designated Maintenance Leads to organize and/or resume vehicle maintenance during the assigned shift. Maintain effective communication with Operations to respond to road calls promptly. Dispatch mechanics and schedule repairs efficiently.
  • Review work orders for precision and ensure production timelines are adhered to. With a focus on prioritization, safety, quality, and efficiency, the Supervisor estimates productivity timelines and establishes or modifies shift employees' production schedules.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings with team members to communicate, prioritize, assign, adjust, and interpret vehicle inspection, servicing, repairing, and cleaning tasks.
  • Oversee Maintenance Department personnel and productivity to guarantee accurate and timely completion of job assignments and cleanup activities, followed by inspections. Clearly articulate staff expectations in a consistent and effective manner.
  • Monitor and record employee work hours and attendance, coordinating with the Maintenance Manager to review, approve, and schedule employee time off while balancing the need for overtime.
  • Train and guide employees on shift in all aspects of vehicle service and repair, including but not limited to basic repairs, air conditioning, electrical work, major component rebuilds, and vehicle cleaning operations.
  • Consistently and fairly initiate documentation and recommend appropriate written and verbal disciplinary actions and commendations when necessary.
  • Analyze and assist in resolving work-related issues and diagnosing malfunctions with machinery and equipment during the shift.
  • Generate, as requested, input and track work orders assigned to staff in the Fleet Focus Maintenance Management System. Update daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring, communicating, interpreting, and enforcing compliance with administrative and departmental policies, operating procedures, uniform standards, safety regulations, cleanup protocols, and quality control processes to ensure efficient daily operations and workflow.
  • Responsible for retrieving, issuing, and logging parts and supplies needed for use by shift employees.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience or training in the repair and preventive maintenance of fleet equipment.
  • At least five (5) years of supervisory experience or a combination of training and experience.
  • ASE certification to meet job classification. If not certified, must be willing to obtain certification.
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience with teams of six (6) or more.
  • Proficient computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and MS Outlook.
  • Must possess a California Motor Vehicle Inspection License.
  • Must have a valid California Driver's license.

Compensation and Benefits:

Starting Salary Range: $40/hour - $52/hour
