Under the supervision of the Branch Manager or Field Leader, the primary duty of the Collector is to ensure that specimen collections are conducted accurately and punctually in the field. It is essential to maintain a safe and professional atmosphere for both clients and staff while confidently executing all aspects of the testing process, including specimen collection and processing in accordance with established protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Compensation: $26.71 per hour
Salary offers are determined by various factors such as relevant skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications. Market conditions and organizational factors are also taken into account.
Benefits Overview: Quest Diagnostics offers employees the chance to secure their future through a 401(k) Plan, with eligibility commencing after one month, and a fully vested company match of up to 5% of pay after one year.
- Ensure all specimens are collected accurately and punctually.
- Collect specimens following established protocols in compliance with DOT guidelines 49 CFR-Part 40.
- Conduct random and emergency observed urine collections for same-sex clients as required.
- Gather specimens for drug screenings and other services provided by Quest Diagnostics.
- Accurately complete Chain of Custody (COC) forms and Alcohol Testing Forms.
- Label specimens as necessary.
- Upload, fax, or mail COC and Alcohol Testing Forms within 24 hours to the designated location.
- Package specimens for transport and ship them to the laboratory specified in work orders.
- Ensure the correct forms are utilized for various collections.
- Responsible for the safe and timely transportation of specimens, supplies, equipment, and materials to the appropriate locations.
- Maintain records for each specimen collected and support the Record Deletion process as directed by management.
- Provide excellent customer service to clients.
- Adhere to DOT Guidelines for Breath Alcohol and Urine collections.
- Maintain all necessary collection logs, accuracy logs, calibrations, and certifications.
- Correct any collection errors within a 24-hour timeframe.
- Submit accurate time and travel logs as directed by management in a timely manner.
- Provide accurate expense forms when required.
- Clock in and out properly for work assignments.
- Submit travel logs when applicable.
- Send monthly Accuracy Checks to the designated site location.
- Exhibit organizational commitment.
- Comply with departmental and company grooming, dress code, and lab coat policies, maintaining a neat and clean appearance at all times.
- Wear the company-issued identification badge during work assignments.
- Arrive on time to the site within specified guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with customers, 24/7 all center, Branch Office, clients, employees, and the general public.
- Report any discrepancies immediately to the appropriate Manager/Supervisor or employer representative.
- Maintain politeness and courtesy at all times.
- Additional duties of the Drug and Breath Alcohol Collector.
- Ensure equipment is clean and in good working order, notifying the Manager or Supervisor of any necessary repairs.
- Keep necessary supplies on hand and contact the appropriate source when replenishment is needed.
- Collaborate effectively with staff to ensure compliance with dress code, EHS & QA requirements, customer service standards, and SOPs, informing the Manager or Supervisor of any issues as they arise.
- Answer calls when dispatched by the employer.
- Return missed calls to dispatch, even if unavailable for assignment.
- Participate in teams and special events when requested.
- Exhibit flexibility in travel (up to a 100-mile radius) and work hours, maintaining records of availability.
- Perform all other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record with access to reliable and insured transportation.
Required Work Experience:
DOT Certification and any other necessary documentation related to this position must be provided prior to a job offer.
Preferred Work Experience:
Certification as a BAT/Urine Collector is preferred.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, drive, and lift up to 10 pounds.
