Position Overview:
The Haynes lab, specializing in Chromatin Epigenetic Engineering, is on the lookout for exceptional scientists to take on the role of Research Scientist for a term of up to three years. This position presents a thrilling opportunity to engage in pioneering work within the realm of biomedical synthetic biology, focusing on the development and application of noncoding RNA for chromatin and gene regulation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting cell culture and molecular biology experiments as directed by the Principal Investigator (PI).
- Utilizing contemporary software for data analysis.
- Mentoring and training new and junior lab personnel.
- Supporting the PI in managing project timelines and deliverables.
Work Environment:
The Haynes lab is integrated within the collaborative Emory/GA Tech W.H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering, situated in a modern facility designed for advanced research. The lab is equipped with essential resources, including dedicated tissue culture areas, shared autoclaves, and a cold storage room, alongside office spaces conducive to collaboration. Core facilities for mouse models, next-generation sequencing, and flow cytometry are conveniently located on the same campus, with a state-of-the-art microscopy core available just one level below the lab.

Job Responsibilities:
Under minimal supervision, the Research Scientist will undertake a variety of highly specialized and intricate tasks essential for advancing both basic and translational research initiatives. Responsibilities will encompass experimental design, data interpretation, and effective communication of research findings. The role may also involve literature review and the application of advanced knowledge and skills for protocol development, as well as assisting in grant applications when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD or master's degree with two years of professional experience in a technical or research laboratory, or a bachelor's degree with four years of relevant experience.
- Laboratory experience must be pertinent to the specific area of assignment.
- Internship or pre-degree experience is not considered valid work experience for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in molecular biology or a related discipline.
- A strong publication record demonstrating proficiency in data analysis.
- Expertise in mammalian tissue culture, molecular cloning, chromatin analysis, and gene expression studies.
- Exceptional skills in modern data analysis software (e.g., GraphPad Prism, R).
- Proven ability in scientific writing in English.
