Job Summary

Emory University is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Academic Research Scientist Assistant to join our team in the Department of Radiation Oncology. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of technical and complex tasks necessary to advance basic and/or translational research programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with experimental platforms specific to the hiring program, including experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation and communication of results.
  • Review literature and apply advanced knowledge, skills, and input necessary for protocol development.
  • Assist in grant and other funding applications, as necessary and appropriate.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required.
Additional Job Details
  • Support the implementation of current studies, including research activities related to obtaining, modifying, and continuing institutional review board approval (IRB), supporting data transfer and management, and communicating with local partners.
  • Clean and analyze data collected through the implementation of previous clinical trial studies and existing secondary databases, such as electronic health records, cancer registry data, and administrative claims.
  • Run advanced quantitative analyses using software such as SAS, Stata, R, etc.
  • Generate research questions for analysis and future grant applications.
  • Participate in the development of publications as lead and co-authors for peer-reviewed journals and grant proposals to funding agencies.
  • Communicate research findings at key conferences.
  • Provide near-peer-mentorship to students and other early-career-scholars on the research team.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD
  • OR Master's degree and two years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab
  • OR Bachelor's degree and four years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab
  • Laboratory experience should be related to area of assignment
  • Internship experience or experience prior to attaining the qualifying degree is not considered eligible work experience for this job classification
