About the Role

Early Warning Services, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team as a Platform Architect. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our core software platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Platform Architecture: Ensure that our platform architecture meets our growth, monitoring, and alerting goals.
  • Technical Leadership: Lead deep, complex, and high-risk technical projects, and control the communication around them.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders and make the right trade-off decisions.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior team members with guidance around techniques, tools, and best practices.
  • Staying Current: Stay current with industry trends and innovations through continuing education, company-provided training, and proof of concepts.
  • Feature Development: Design and develop features and capabilities to enhance our core product offerings.
  • Source Code Management: Manage source code using Git.
  • Database Querying: Query platform data using SQL-based DBs.
  • Java Web Services: Work on complex Java Web Services using Spring Boot.
  • Project Management: Track sprint work in Jira and document complex details and decisions in Confluence.
  • Automated Testing: Build automated tests alongside sprint work that is integrated into the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Code Review: Submit pull requests and integrate review feedback from others on the team.
  • Bug Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot complex bugs that may arise during development.
  • Risk Management: Support the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Education and/or experience typically obtained through completion of a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related field. 10 or more years of related industry experience.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Java, very good debugging, troubleshooting, and low-level optimizations skills, proficient with Git source control, familiarity with writing automated tests, advanced proficiency with SQL, advanced proficiency in RESTful service design, excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate with stakeholders and make the right trade-off decisions, and ability to use critical thinking skills and leverage relationships to influence decisions.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Additional related education and/or experience preferred, Spring/Spring Boot framework beneficial, strong understanding of event-based programming, multi-threading, memory management, kernel/user mode, fault tolerance, distributed systems, experience with cloud, experience with SOAP services, familiarity with common data format standards like XML, JSON, YAML, etc., NoSQL experience (Redis, HBASE, AeroSpike, etc.), experience with Kafka, familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes, and FinTech experience highly beneficial.
Benefits
  • Competitive Salary: The pay scale for this position is $145,000 - $160,000 per year in Phoenix, AZ/Chicago, IL and $155,000 - $180,000 per year in New York, NY/San Francisco, CA.
  • Discretionary Bonus: Eligible for a discretionary bonus.
